The function of newsgroups is to deliver an interactive discussion forum to the
WWW available to basically everybody who would like to take part in it. Hundreds
and thousands of subjects are available on the net today and some are dealing
with the subject of microscopy which are listed below.
Members will post messages to a news server or will reply to messages posted by
others very much like on a virtual bulletin board. Instead of posting the
messages to all the members of the newsgroup like in a list server messages will
remain on the server for a given period of time. Members can read messages there
and can reply to them either to the offical newsgroup server or personally
directed to the person who posted it.

Microscopy Related List Servers
In line with newsgroups list servers also offer virtual communication among a
group of peolple who are interested in a particular subject. In contrast to the
newsgroups server messages and answers are send to all members of the
list server via e-mail. In order to become a member of a list server you have to
subscribe to it.
You can then send your own messages and comments or reply to a message in public
to all members or send messages personally to only one specific
member. Microscopy related list servers are listed below.
- Microscopy/Microanalysis
Listserver
Questions/comments/answers in the various fields of Microscopy and
Microanalysis
The list is run and maintained by Nestor J. Zaluzec and is officially
supported by the Microscopy Society of America (MSA)
- Confocal Mail List Archive
Archive of articles (queries and answers, tricks of the trade) on
confocal microscopy and fluorescence microscopes.
